Why annual compliance training does not work

Completion rates measure attendance. Here is what we measure instead, and what changed when we started.

Why annual compliance training does not work

Every organisation we work with can tell us their completion rate. Almost none can tell us whether behaviour changed.

The annual model has a structural problem: it delivers all of the content at the point of lowest relevance. Somebody who will face a difficult customer-due-diligence decision in September sat the training in January, alongside everything else.

What we do instead

Short modules, released against the moments they apply to, and assessed with scenarios rather than definitions. The measure that matters is not how many people finished — it is how many people got the scenario right the first time.
